Ministries
Congregational Care & Fellowship Goals

To promote fellowship within the congregation and set up fellowship meals after congregational meetings; for families after funerals; and for other activities that are conducive to closer interaction between members and with other groups.

  1. More social functions to promote closer relationships in the congregation and in celebration of important dates and times in the church life.

  2. Continue to offer fellowship events in cooperation with other committees.

  3. More fellowship with Cristo Senor de la Vida and others as the opportunity arises.

  4. Involve new members in fellowship.

  5. Upgrade certain things in the kitchen as they are needed.

Dinner Club
Dinner Club provides adult fellowship in a small group setting. Scheduled dinners are held monthly from September to April. Members host dinners in their home for 3-4 couples or unattached members. Dinner Club has is a great avenue for new members to get acquainted with fellow members at St. John's in a small group setting. It has also proved over and over again to reach out to potential new members.

OWLS
The OWLs ministry of St. John's has been meeting for almost 3 years now and it is a terrific group of "Older-Wiser-Lutherans" who have a good time eating their brown bag lunch together and then enjoying a program and dessert; just bring a sandwich or salad for yourself and dessert and drinks are furnished. Some terrific programs are offered, too. The OWL's meet in the church social hall on the 4th Wednesday of each month, at 12:30 pm till about 2:00 pm.

Vacation Bible School

This summertime ministry to elementary children offers a week of fun, theme-based instruction in the Christian faith. Our entire congregation benefits from the enrichment of our children as they are steeped in the words of our Lord, Creator. A sense of community developed which instilled an atmosphere of welcome to St. John's Church for all.  This included children from St. John's Christian Pre-school and the surrounding neighborhood.
