Parent Information

Dear Parents,

We appreciate your interest in St. John's Christian Preschool.  Attached you will find an enrollment page and Maryland immunization and health inventory forms for the 2010-2011 school year.  If your child attended St. John's in the 2009-2010 school year, you do not have to resubmit the 4-page health inventory forms.

NO CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED TO BEGIN SCHOOL WITHOUT THESE MEDICAL FORMS ON FILE.

Note that medical forms may be turned in anytime before the start of school, but we need current information.  School policy requires children to be toilet trained before entering school.  Diapers and "pull-ups" are NOT permissible during school hours; the ONLY EXCEPTION is the 2 year old class.

The enrollment forms must be completed and returned with a non-refundable registration fee of $75.00 and one month's tuition deposit (for May 2011).  Enrollment forms that are not accompanied by the required payment (CHECKS ONLY-NO CASH) will not be considered.  A child may withdraw at any time, but a written notice must be given 30 days prior to departure to recieve a refund.  It is important that you indicate a second class choice for consideration if your first choice is full.  Staff members may not handle these forms for you.

Property Day
The semiannual Property Day is held in the fall and spring. It is a day when the many members of St. John’s join together in doing the little things around the building that create the first impression that visitors have of us and also makes us feel good about ourselves when we have a clean, well-ordered property. A facility as busy and as large as St. John’s has many little tasks that need doing so that our budget remains small, but our image is positive. This is a great way to get to know others in the church family. Most jobs are not very strenuous, and all are welcome to contribute time and talent to this task—even one hour of attendance is worthwhile.

Property Goals

Our property is a place from which we are sent to the world. It is a place in which we worship and educate. It provides a resource we can share with our community. It should not be a substitute for our mission, but it does support our mission.

  1. Work on “curb appeal”. This might include front entrance, signage and other improvements that make the exterior of the church building more appealing and more visible

  2. General maintenance

  3. Technological maintenance and improvements

Service Goals
Jesus once said, “As you have done to the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done to me.” This means that Jesus is present in the least of these and, since it is important for the church to follow its Lord, we should be among the least of these.

School Kit Collection

The St. John's church community is invited to donate school kit supplies and materials that will be used by the Service and Outreach Ministry to assemble school kits that will be donated to the Lutheran World Relief distribution facility in New Windsor, MD. From that point, the kits will be grouped with kits donated by other church congregations for distribution to the needy around the world. In 2009, LWR distributed a total of 231,360 school kits to people in 21 different countries.
