St. John's Choir - The choir helps to lead the liturgy and music each Sunday at the traditional service and also sings a choral anthem each week. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in singing and rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings.
Praise Team - The Praise Team leads worship each Sunday at the contemporary service and includes vocalists and instrumentalists. Our band currently consists of acoustic/electric guitar, bass and drums but we welcome the addition of other instruments. Rehearsals are held at 7 PM on the 1st and 2nd Tuesdays of the month.
Praise Teens - The Praise Teens are a choral group for middle school, junior high and high schoolers. We sing a variety of music from traditional to gospel to contemporary. Rehearsals are held weekly, Thursdays 6:15-7pm and we participate in the music for the contemporary or traditional service on a monthly basis.
Sunday School Music - All Sunday School aged children will have singing time as part of their Sunday morning activities. In addition, each week we will spend some time working on a song to sing at the contemporary or traditional service.
Music with Hand Chimes is our newest group, for aspiring musicans in Kindergarten and above. Rehearsal time is 5-5:45pm on Tuesday evenings beginning October 13. |
September 12th - Rally Day Sunday at Saint John's! Blended worship at 10:00 am -- one service only followed by a Congregational Kick-off Pig Roast.

The Youth of the church are people whose faith needs to be nurtured and developed. They are also people who offer a different way of understanding our faith. The congregation should develop ways to both teach and nurture our youth and develop ways for our youth to teach and inspire adults with their joy and enthusiasm.
-
Create opportunities for mutual ministries (i.e. ways in which youth can express their faith and enthusiasm to the rest of the congregation as well as ways youth themselves can be enriched)
-
Improve communication to the congregation concerning all the things the youth in fact do
-
Follow-up on synod and national church youth events so that the congregation can benefit from the youth experience at these events
-
Focus on Middle School youth focusing on finding a way to coordinate more fellowship activities by seeking out a volunteer to organize them
-
Continue work with confirmation and high school youth and coordinate Confirmation Class activities with social events to maintain group cohesion
-
Address the creation of a paid Youth Worker position

The Youth ministry team works to build a strong and meaningful Youth program at St. John's. It is the purpose of this ministry to incorporate into our young people the following principles: ministry, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism, worship, and service. Our spirit-led activities are highlighted by: Youth Sunday, Shrove Tuesday (pancake supper), the Super Bowl Sub sale, the Shekinah retreat (middle school), the Chrysalis retreat (high school), and the Christmas Breakfast for Elementary School youth. We all know that it takes an entire community to raise our children. The St. John's congregation is such a community - caring ad nurturing. |
