Parent Information

Dear Parents,

We appreciate your interest in St. John's Christian Preschool. Attached you will find an enrollment page and Maryland immunization and health inventory forms for the 2010-2011 school year. If your child attended St. John's in the 2009-2010 school year, you do not have to resubmit the 4-page health inventory forms.

NO CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED TO BEGIN SCHOOL WITHOUT THESE MEDICAL FORMS ON FILE.

Note that medical forms may be turned in anytime before the start of school, but we need current information. School policy requires children to be toilet trained before entering school. Diapers and "pull-ups" are NOT permissible during school hours; the ONLY EXCEPTION is the 2 year old class.

The enrollment forms must be completed and returned with a non-refundable registration fee of $75.00 and one month's tuition deposit (for May 2011). Enrollment forms that are not accompanied by the required payment (CHECKS ONLY-NO CASH) will not be considered. A child may withdraw at any time, but a written notice must be given 30 days prior to departure to recieve a refund. It is important that you indicate a second class choice for consideration if your first choice is full. Staff members may not handle these forms for you.

2 day class - 2's	$246.00 per month	9:15 AM - 11:45 AM
2 day class - 3's	$194.00 per month	9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
3 day class - 3's	$291.00 per month	9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM-3:30 PM
3 day class - 4's	$225.00 per month	9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM-3:30 PM
5 day class - 4's	$375.00 per month	9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Registration fee: $75.00 (non-refundable)

A child must be 2, 3, or 4 years of age by September 1^st of the school year to be age elibible to enroll. This requirement applies to all nonpublic schools that hold a Certificate of Approval from the Maryland State Board of Education. Please be advised that a child must be 5 years of age by September 1^st to enroll in a public or nonpublic school kindergarten in Maryland.

St. John's Christian Preschool is a non-profit organization operated by St. John's Lutheran Church. The preschool was established for the purpose of promoting the mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth of children. The professional staff supervises and guides the children through a program of play and instruction with a daily emphasis on Christian attitudes.

All teachers are degreed and have experience working with young children. The maximum number of children in the each 2-year-old class is 10 with a teacher and an assistant, 14 with a teacher and assistant in each 3-year-old class and 18 with a teacher and assistant in each 4-year-old class.

The curriculum is designed to promote both social and emotional growth with an emphasis on the development of positive self-esteem. These goals are met by utilizing a variety of academic readiness activities involving active discovery and guided learning. Children learn through play, and activities are centered on weekly themes, special visitors, trips, dress-up days and related snacks.

A typical day includes circle time, music, games, creative art, stories, indoor and outdoor play and snack. A music enrichment teacher meets with all classes weekly. Our large and attractively decorated classrooms are well equipped and furnished for preschool aged children. A recently remodeled playground offers the children an ideal place to develop physical fitness while having fun.

Because the preschool is a mission of St. John's Church, the children’s spiritual growth is nurtured through weekly Bible stories and Christian attitude lessons emphasizing God’s love for everyone. The Pastor leads a weekly chapel service to instill values that children may remember and apply throughout life. At St. John’s Christian Preschool children learn that they are special!

Classes are 2, 3, or 5 days a week. Morning classes are 9:00-12:00 and afternoon classes are 12:30-3:30. If you would like more information about our program, please call Virginia Cameron, Director, at (301) 946-4977.
